Our Story
The CLUB was established by psychologist John Glanville in the tiny seaside town of Emu Park, Queensland.
John has an eclectic background in the practice of psychology.
Beginning as a relationships counsellor, John's next career move saw him work as a psychologist in prisons. Later he developed a keen interest in the area of sport psychology and began working with various athletic associations. In turn, this led to John being hired as a mental skills coach for a number of Rugby League teams in the Queensland Cup, soon after he was hired by the Sydney Roosters in the NRL.
In more recent times, John and his wife, Dr. Mia Glanville, established a small psychology practice in Emu Park, named "The Lighthouse". The Lighthouse is the birthplace of The CLUB, as it is here that an NDIS client made a comment that initiated conducting therapy on the golf course: After announcing that he, "hated sitting in a stupid room talking", and that he'd "prefer to be playing golf", the NDIS participant inadvertently gave birth to the concept of The CLUB .
